What’s the Biggest Mistake You Can Make in Starting Your Workout Programs?

Mindset To Get You Motivated To Exercise:
I see and talk with many people who get started on workout programs, do well for a week or a month, and then blow all their progress when life “just comes up.â€
It’s time to take a look at this factor of “when life happensâ€, and how it works together with incorporating exercise into your lifestyle.
So what’s the biggest mistake you can make?
Starting your exercise program from a place where you feel you SHOULD.
This is the Number One, all too common Big Mistake! It’s Huge!
Here’s an example of what I mean by this. This post was inspired by my ‘West Coast’ gal who had a consult with me this week – she wanted support with starting her workout programs.
When we first spoke, her reasons were all about how she thinks she SHOULD:
- She’s not getting any younger
- The weight is creeping up
- She’s tired of being tired
Well, I asked her a question and I’d like to ask you the same.
How many times in your life have you done something because you thought you SHOULD? And what kind of results did you get?
I thought so!
Well, my ‘West coast’ gal said the same thing – nothing really changes or seems to get accomplished. My next question to her was: What do you really WANT?
She then shared with me that she would like to retire early and travel, spend more time with her young granddaughter and not be so tired all the time.
When it comes to truly changing your lifestyle, it is these wants and desires that are really going to end up making the difference for you!
If you’re coming from a place of desire, how would taking care of your body help to enhance and bring more enjoyment to you in reaching these goals?
How would it feel to have abundant energy to travel whenever you wanted and go wherever you wanted without being exhausted at the end of your day – to actually have the energy to do your favorite things that give you enjoyment?
How would it feel to have energy to play all day long with your grandkids, work on your hobbies, spend time with friends – and still have some in reserve for an enjoyable evening to yourself?
Coming from a place of inspiration and motivation in taking care of your body does so much more for you in all aspects of your life! It allows you to shift away from putting up with a lethargic body that has just enough “umph†to accomplish the necessities of the day – putting up with gradual weight gain and low energy while living your life and always coming from a place of “I shouldâ€.
Instead, you can come from a place that excites you and inspires you! Your entire mindset around exercise changes when you are coming from a place where you know it can only enhance the things in your life that you love.
From here on out, stop focusing on all the reasons why you SHOULD maintain a healthly lifestyle. Instead, focus on your desires and how taking back your body, energy, and well-being can only make life easier and much more fun!
It’s time to stop living from a place of “just enough†and “should†and start living from a place that brings you joy, excitement and abundance, using exercise as the tool in your back pocket that will give you just that!

Inspirations flows in your word! infact what you said is absolutely true. When we do something because we are suppose to do it lacks the wholeheartedness and fire of doing it and making a difference! I also keep procrastinating my fitness regime but you thought provoking article make me sit up and think about it. A trigger from the real desire can give oneself results!!

Thought provoking indeed. Really great article, very well written. Visualization techniques are an extremely powerful way to ‘tune’ your mind and body for success by focusing more in what you want. And it’s not just limited to weight loss either, it applies to absolutely anything you want to acheive in life.

Like we say, follow your passion and do things you enjoy doing and don’t think about the reasons you’re doing it. Just have the desire to do it. Find something you like and you will stick to it for a long long time as it won’t appear as a chore. Instead you’ll be much more motivated and without realizing it, you will be getting results but without constantly thinking about the reasons.
